Who are These Guys?!?

Has the whole world turned upside down? Last night, Ronny Cedeno is taking pitches and hitting RBI singles, and today, he hit a clutch grand slam and got a curtain a curtain call! You got Felix Pie shortening his swing and hitting 3 run jacks. You got a 6.5 million dollar outfielder leading the bigs in pitches / plate appearance with an awesome OBP. You got Derrek Lee among the league leaders in OPS, and you got Aramis Ramirez on pace for 105 walks. A-Ram has a career high of 50 walks! Not to mention the favorable starts by Reed Johnson, Geovany Soto, and Ryan Dempster. How long can it last?!? Let the good times roll!!!

Bud: You were (as was I and millions of our best friends) winning about not scoring any runs as recent as 04/02. WOW has that changed. Just read we lead the league in OBP and 2nd in majors. Maybe that fat statistic guy who looks like Chick McGee is onto something.

Here is what I am suprised by, expected and hoped for.

The greatest hitting suprises are: Soto .317 / Blanco .357. More of the long history of great hitting Cub catchers who have a combined avg of barely 2 bucks. Ronnie C is driving in 5 runs and hitting .345. And I thought Dempster was in the dumpster.

We all knew DLee would hit .350 and Ram would hit a buck and a quarter to start but finish above .300 with 100 rbis. And Z is always a potential Cy. Everyone knew this, but we worried it was not enough.

I hoped that Woody would find his place in the pen. He has and I am happy for him. I also had very high hopes for KosK. He is the real deal with all the tools and great baseball sense.

This is a well rounded team with a experienced winning manager and it's going places.
